Since its establishment, the Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute (SHI) has been striving to promote the study of Chinese humanities, and provide a platform for young scholars’ intellectual exchange. Since 2015, SHI has organised six Young Scholars Conferences yearly (except 2020 due to the pandemic), which attracted more than 100 young scholars from home and abroad to participate.
Under the theme “Literary Practice, Interpretation and Construction: Contemporary Reflections of Classical Chinese Literature”, the conference was held online on 1 July 2022. It has invited 15 young scholars from various institutions in the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States to share their insights on Chinese classical prose, poetry and Ci, fictions, rhetoric, literary criticism, literary communication, cultural studies, etc. It aims for reflections on the practice and process of literary production, through textual interpretation and construction. A total of 253 scholars, students and guests from the public participated in the conference.
