Professor Kam Wing FUNG has been a research academic at a number of institutions such as Research Fellow and Visiting Professor at the Institute for Research in Humanities, Kyoto University, Japan; Visiting Research Professor at Center of Excellence, Kansai University, Osaka, Japan; Senior Research Fellow at Asian Division, Library of Congress, U.S.A and Advisor of Hong Kong Space Museum. He is currently Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Hong Kong Chu Hai College; Director of Centre for Asian Studies, Hong Kong Chu Hai College; Zhu Kezhen History of Science Professor at Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China; Institute Fellow at Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (Incorporating the Centre of Asian Studies), HKU; Adjunct Professor, Department of Chinese History and Culture, Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Advisor, Xu Dishan Research Institute, Fujian Normal University; Honorary Director, Ptolemy Museum; Board Director and Guest Curator of Hong Kong Maritime Museum.
香港珠海學院文學與社會科學院院長馮錦榮教授主講的「學術與淑世之間:許地山的經學與宗教研究及其對新四軍的聲援」專題講座在2025年11月27日順利舉行。
許地山(1893-1941)是近代重要學者,在港大期間主導中文系改革,推動宗教史與梵文教學,融合文學、歷史與經學研究。馮錦榮教授指出,許地山不僅是現代著名文學家,更是一位貫通中西的宗教史家與經學研究者。其學術研究涵蓋道教、佛教、墨學及《易經》,注重原始文獻與比較方法,具有開創性意義。尤擅摩尼教、佛教研究,影響港大中文學術脈絡至深。此外,馮教授還論及許地山未刊英文文章〈(香港大學)中國文史學系發展建議書〉。這份《發展建議書》可以說是許地山對港大中文系進行現代化改革的藍圖書,其根本目的是要扭轉學系過去的保守風氣,建立一個與現代學術接軌、兼具廣度與深度的人文教育體系。
1941年,許地山身處香港,積極參與左翼文化活動。皖南事變後,他聯同香港文藝界協會公開聲援新四軍,體現學者於國難之際的社會關懷。馮教授強調,許地山的學術選擇與社會實踐,體現了民國學人「學以經世」的精神傳統——將深湛的古典研究,轉化為對現實社會的深切關懷與行動,其「淑世」之精神也貫穿學術與抗日行動,反映戰時知識份子跨域實踐的獨特軌跡。
講座亦論及許地山葬禮之隆重,中共及文化界人士多參與,折射其兼融學術與時代使命的一生。
