The Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute is glad to invite Professor Peng Guoxiang, Qiushi Distinguished Professor at Zhejiang University to deliver a lecture for the Frontiers in Sino-Humanitas Lecture series at HKBU in early February, titled "Mentorship and Authentic Feeling in New Confucianism: A Study Focusing on Mou Zongsan". About the speaker

Peng Guoxiang, a Qiushi Distinguished Professor at Zhejiang University. He has served as a professor at Peking University and Tsinghua University, and has been a visiting professor, scholar, and researcher at numerous international institutions. His honors include the 2016 Kluge Chair in Countries and Cultures of the North and the 2009 Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award. His research centers on Chinese philosophy, intellectual history, and Chinese-Western comparative philosophy and religion. He is the author of 10 books and over 100 academic articles.

浙江大學求是特聘教授彭國翔教授於2026年2月10日下午蒞臨我校，為本校師生及公眾人士展開了題為「新儒家的師道與真情——以牟宗三為中心」的講座。本次講座圍繞「師道與真情」這一核心主題，通過系統解讀牟宗三先生與弟子蔡仁厚等人往來的信函，深入剖析了其教育理念、為師風範與情感世界。

首先，彭教授探討了牟先生對學生功夫實踐的指點以及教學相長中的悲情與慰藉，指出其學問與實踐並重，嚴慈相濟。在治學指導上，牟先生強調「學以明理」，反對「枯窘」與「瑣碎」兩種偏失。他指導青年弟子，功夫需「當機落實」，通過努力學問、明曉事理來間接開拓生命、突破拘謹。他既肯定學生的穎悟，也嚴格要求其學問需「博文」以求「發脫」，避免如李延平般造詣雖高卻「發脫不出」的遺憾，體現了其對學術傳承的深遠期許。

其次，彭教授探討了為師之德，包括牟先生對學生學術上的扶持以及對學問的嚴格要求，乃至對學生就業和生活上的關懷以及始終的掛念。彭教授指出，牟先生對弟子的關懷是全人而具體的。在學術上，他循循善誘，甚至為教材中一個未詳的典故「邯鄲之野馬」親自托人查證。在生活與就業上，他亦傾力相助，如為家境清寒的女生唐亦男推薦發表文章以資鼓勵，也為弟子王淮的工作安放而多方囑託，展現了其超越課堂的深切掛念。他將弟子視為「增上緣」，在時代悲情中相互慰藉，共體時艱。

最後，彭教授探討了為人之本，即在艱難中修養「真人」品格。牟先生最終將師道指向「為人」之根本。他勉勵弟子在「無可奈何」的處境中「逐步堅定自己」，於「福中修慧，慧中修福」，追求「福慧雙修」。他所期許的「真人」，並非玄遠境界，而是能夠真實面對世界、承擔內心責任、真實活下去的人。這種教誨，融合了儒家「戒慎恐懼」的修養與面對時代「大生大死」的悲情擔當。

總而言之，牟宗三先生的師道，是學問的嚴格指導、生活的深切關懷與生命人格的陶養三者合一。其信函中流淌的真情與智慧，不僅是珍貴的學術史料，更展現了一代哲人以其全幅生命踐履師道、滋養後學的動人典範。
