The Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute is glad to collaborate with Nanjing Xiaozhuang University to jointly organise the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition of Wang Hui at Tsi Ku Chai Gallery in Central, Hong Kong during 28-30 June 2025. The event is also supported by Oi Ling Gallery as the Partnering Organisation.

The exhibition opening ceremony was held at 10:30 AM on 28 June. Dr. Wang Hui showcased nearly 60 works in this exhibition. Drawing from the brushwork of the “Two Wangs” of the Wei and Jin dynasties and the Gongbi (realistic) Painting tradition of the Song dynasty, Dr. Wang combines ancient brush techniques with Western concepts of light, shadow, and composition. This approach reimagines the visual transformation of Chinese painting and calligraphy, offering an intuitive interpretation of the theme “Modern Translation of Traditional Norms.”

Distinguished guests attending the opening ceremony included:

·  Professor Wang Ji'an, Professor at the School of Fine Arts, Nanjing Normal University, Vice President of the Calligraphy Committee of the Ministry of Education and former Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Calligraphers Association

·  Professor Joan Judge, Professor, Department of History at York University (Canada) and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada

·  Professor Joshua Fogel, Canada Research Chair and Professor at York University

·  Professor Yuming He, University of California, Davis

·  Ms. Wu Hanguang, former Party Secretary of the School of Design, Nanjing University of the Arts

·  President Zhang Xinyu, President of the Hong Kong Jiangsu Women's General Association and Fellow of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University

·  Professor Zhang Chen, Assistant Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University and PhD from Harvard University

There were also scholars and art enthusiasts from around the world in attendance.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Zhang Hongsheng (pictured above) and Professor Wang Ji'an each delivered speeches. Dr. Wang Hui created an artwork on site to mark the opening and expressed her gratitude.
