Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute (SHI) has been founded with generous support from many sources. First of all, we are extremely grateful to the donation of Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen, whose donation allowed Hong Kong Baptist University to create the institute, and supported all its activities for the sake of Chinese studies and Sinology: holding international academic conferences, on ongoing publishing series, inviting prominent visiting scholars to HKBU, and more. Second, we are grateful to Prof. Jao Tsung-i, who has offered his precious guidance and support as well. Finally, we thank Prof. Albert Chan Sun-chi, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU; Prof. Chung Ling, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; and the numerous other members of the HKBU community who have provided encouragement and advice.
Their support has allowed us to create this new institute, which we hope will do much to further international Sinology. We hope to use this institute as a new forum for communication and exchange among both our own researchers and scholars of Chinese culture throughout the world. Thank you.
